Meet your SWOG-NC Board Members

Renea is the current President/Secretary of the Social Work Oncology Group and have been a member of SWOG since 1997. She has held multiple Board positions over the years to support this amazing organization. She worked at Duke University Hospital for over 22 years serving oncology patients and their families. She is also proud to have been a past recipient of the SWOG Social Worker of the Year and an active member of this organization!
The Board’s goals for the next two years are to provide outstanding, educational opportunities during the Annual SWOG Conference and intermittently during the year; to bring together the passionate Social Workers who provide care to oncology patients and their loved ones; and to give this organization an on-line presence to enhance the ability to reach all Social Workers and other disciplines interested in Psychosocial Oncology Practice.

Kate is an adult solid organ transplant social worker since 2017 at Duke University Hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree in social work at Meredith College and then completed the social work graduate program at North Carolina State University. Kate has worked at several non-profits before her employment at Duke. She continues to dedicate her time to improve transplant outcomes for her patients and to serve as a source of support to patients and their families.
Kate is currently the Vice President for the NC SWOG group. She has been a member of NC SWOG since she was an undergraduate student and has continued to have a passion for the oncology population.
Bio to come
Sarah Davis is a pediatric neuro oncology clinical social worker since 2016 with the Duke Brain tumor center. After completing her master’s degree in social work at Michigan State University, Sarah worked for 12 years in cooperate Employee Assistance Programs in southern Michigan and Chicago before joining the Duke Team in 2001. Sarah has working in several different areas at Duke in the past 20 years including Radiation Oncology, Medical Surgical Units, Trauma, Duke Heart Center, Nephrology and Family Medicine with both adults and pediatric patients. She is responsible for being the emotional support, resource management and wellbeing of our patients, their loved ones and the pediatric medical team.
Sarah is currently the Treasurer for the NC SWOG group and is looking forward to a great year with NC SWOG.
